Government Fund Divests from Settlement Companies

Last year, Norwatch revealed that the Norwegian government pension fund had invested Africa Israel Investments and in its subsidiary Danya Cebus Ltd, which build settlement on occupied West Bank. Today, the Norwegian Ministry of Finance announced that the Pension Fund has divested from both firms, as well as a Malaysian forest company.

 
No Norwegian connection in Sudan arms export

International media has today covered a vessel that has been apprehended in Cyprus, for alleged arms transport to Sudan. The ship left Norway few weeks before, the story goes. From what Norwatch can establish, no arms from Norway were part of the shipment.

The Norwegian wine and spirit monopoly, Vinmonopolet, has increased its selection of wine from the Israel-occupied Golan Heights. Once again the wine is incorrectly labelled as “Israeli”.
 
Throws Out Western Sahara Companies

Norwegian investor KLP has blacklisted another two new fertiliser companies that buy phosphate from occupied Western Sahara. Furthermore, two additional corporations were dropped from its portfolio because they are linked with nuclear weapons production.
 
Kongsberg Rejected Morocco Assignment

Kongsberg Seatex had hoped to sell an ocean surveillance system to the Moroccan navy but chose to refrain because of the Western Sahara conflict. “We could not be absolutely sure that it would not be placed in Western Sahara,” Even Aas, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs, told Norwatch.

Halts imports of fish oil

Norwegian fish oil importer GC Rieber today announced that they have stopped all imports of fish oil from Morocco and occupied Western Sahara. After their biggest customer did not longer want to buy the controversial oil, the importer has chosen to stop further purchases from the region.

The investments by the Norwegian Government Pension Fund – Global in companies in occupied Palestinian areas have increased from 12.7 to 18.1 billion Norwegian kroner in 1 year. Investments in involved Israeli firms alone have increased by 1 billion, from 771 million to 1.7 billion kroner.
 
Yara sold rain forest project

Fertilizer giant Yara has sold the disputed phosphate project in protexted Atlantic rainforest in Brazil, which Norwatch visited last year.
